Full-text search is a technique for searching an electronic document or textual database in which the search engine examines all the words in each document stored and tries to match them to those provided by the user.

Step 1

  • In the main Documents menu of the program

  • In the Documents menu of the matter

  • In the Documents menu of a person's summary (eye)

Click on the magnifying glass to search through all the documents in JurisÉvolution, a file or a person's summary.

Step 2

Type in the keywords you are looking for

Research tools to know

Search for a sentence (word and space)

e.g.: Proceedings of an agreement

Each word separated by a space is considered separately in the search. The result will include all documents that contain Process OR Instance OR Agreement

Accent-insensitive search

E.g.: "Déroulement" OR "Deroulement" are identical in the search

Case-insensitive search

E.g.: Process or process is the same in the search

Search with an asterisk * that replaces a letter (or several in a word)

Student* the search will be performed on anything that can potentially replace the star including possible typos, i.e. Student, Students, Studentanre, etc.

Phonetic search possible with the ~ symbol (ALT+ 0126 on Windows keyboard) necessarily at the end of the word without space

Adding the tilde will search for anything that sounds similar to the word you are searching for. E.g.: Pharmacy~ will also search for Farmacie, Pharmacy, Farmassie, Pharmaci, etc.

Search in documents of type

  • Word

  • PDF

  • Excel

  • .txt (notepad)

  • .msg

.zip (name and content of the files contained in the zip)

The document is considered empty when its content cannot be read, which is the case for images. Indeed, the words in an image cannot be indexed, because full text search does not allow Optical Character Recognition [OCR].

Bilingual research

The indexing tool tries to determine the language of the document. In the indexing (in the database), there is an English content and a French content with a different treatment which allows a word like "Permission" to be generated as a result in both English and French without the user having to specify a search language.

Search without maximum or minimum number of characters

A search for the character "e" searches for all "e "s alone and not for words containing an "e".Une recherche du caractère « e » recherche tous les « e » seuls et non les mots contenant un « e ».

The document must be indexed to appear in the results. When adding a new document and saving an existing one, indexing is automatic, but may take some time. It is recommended to wait before searching for a few minutes before testing the search on a new document.

Result

All documents containing the searched keywords are listed.

The search can be refined using filters.
